Fabio's the name, I'm a 21yo Italian guy who suffers from Spina Bifida (L5-S1). I can walk and live a fairly independent life, if we ignore my being a slave of intermittent catheterism. Currently living in Rimini, a seaside town on the Italian east coast, I'm going to move to Salford, England, in about a month. The place - particularly Salford University's campus - is going to be my home for the following nine months, the duration of my experience as an exchange student abroad. Thrilling experience, no doubt, but I must admit I am slightly scared. It's going to be my first, real, long period away from home. My very own ritual of passage into adulthood, I guess. Anyway, I'm digressing. I guess a few lines about my passions and pet peeves are due. I love reading and writing - I'm a bit of a compulsive writer, although proper inspiration is sometimes hard to come by. I'm also a keen reader, with a passion for sci-fi and fantasy as well as for scientific, historial and philosophical popular literature. Furthermore, I have a deep love for languages. I'm currently studying for a BA in Translation Studies from and into Italian, English and German. In my (little) spare time I also enjoy furthering my knowledge of other languages, particularly those of the Northern Germanic branch. I guess you could say I'm a person with quite strong opinions and ready to argue and fight for them. I'm fairly open-minded but never to the point of compromising on my deepest convictions. I've been told on occasions that I'm a bitter, cynical person. I'm also a Strong Atheist. Just for the record, the two things are not related. My unbelief predates those experiences that have embittered me to such a degree. I just thought I'd mention that, since I can no longer count the times I've been defined an angry atheist. Damn, I just realised this profile doesn't quite sound as inviting as a profile is supposed to be. But well, what can I do. I value honesty before public relations.
