56 year old polio survivor from The Netherlands.
I am René, I was born in 1955, just before the invention of the polio-vaccine, in a small village called Zeist in the centre of the Netherlands. At this moment I live in Amersfoort. - At age 4 or 5 I had non paralytic polio. I had light symptoms, no respiratory problems at all, and fortunately, the symptoms I had, gradually decreased. The only residual at this moment is a weak right leg. - When I was about 25 years old, I got problems with my right leg, I walked like a drunken sailor. At first, it looked like a returning problem with my back, A few years ago I had a severe hernia, ( slipped vertebra ). But then the diagnose was 'Post Polio Syndrome' and I had to wear a legbrace. At first I used a small plastic one, after some years I needed a metal brace. A small one (AFO) for small distances, and a large one (KAFO) if I have to walk more than a few hundred meters. - I am looking for guys with the same disabillity to become friends, But I am 'open' to become friends with all other type of men. If you want, you can send drop a short message on my home-page. If you can speak and read Dutch, you have a very big plus. - Greetings from the city of "Amersfoort" in the land of windmills and wooden shoe's. - René.
